I moved from Dallas to Austin about five months ago. I ran four separate book clubs while living in Dallas and amongst alot of other things, I miss my book club peeps. The great conversations, some friendships and so much laughter. Please join me in my new adventure if you have a GREAT sense of humor, love books off the beaten path (but sometimes on) and can commit to reading one book a month.
This is a group for ladies to meet up over drinks to discuss fabulous books, share stories, unwind after work, and make some new friends. I've started this meet up because I've recently moved back to Austin and want to make some new friends and I love a good book! I can rarely meet over the weekends which was when most of the other clubs met, so I've created this one which will meet on weeknights around 7PM at various Austin watering holes. Please join to enjoy some great books, good wine, and m …
We are a group of fun loving 20 and 30 somethings who love to read and discuss books over brunch. We will be reading the latest in fiction over Sunday brunch in varies restaurants all over the Austin area. Join us once a month to discuss great books over mimosas and bloody mary's!
If you love great books, talking about great books and authors, and sharing and learning about new authors over good coffee, good food & good wine- this is the meetup group for you! I know there are plenty of book clubs in Austin, am in fact a member & event organizer of a great one already, and it inspired me to start another book club for Austin Women! I'm hoping to have a one Saturday afternoon a month meetup about the book voted on, and maybe throw in a few extra meetups a month just for fun …
As a newbie to Austin who needs to make some new girlfriends, I thought that creating a group that mixes my love for reading AND my love for good food was a win. It's not only a great way to meet new friends but also a surefire way to get to know some local eateries too! To get an idea of the sorts of books we'll read I would say that most of it will be contemporary fiction, although I'm open! Personally, I read mostly fiction and quite a lot of YA, especially fantasy/sci-fi.
Looking for a fun, laid back book club without the drama of Poisonwood Bible or the heaviness of War & Peace? Like to read for fun and want to expand your horizons of the almost endless Thriller and Mystery books and authors? Lisa Scottoline, James Patterson, Walter Mosley, Ted Bell, have heard the names but never read their books. By submitting to peer pressure maybe you can find a new great author to follow. Let's go with books written within the last 50 years. Discover new books, authors and …
This group combines some of my favorite things....books, movies, food, drinks and making new friends. Bring your book and movie ideas and don’t forget your appetite. Meeting over a meal is great way to get things started. We’ll vote on one book a month and then discuss it. We'll have dinner and a movie night. We could even add a game night or visit some of the local attractions. Posting is open to all members. If you have a great idea for a meet up, feel free to post them. There are no dues with …
Like good actors, writers that draw on their emotional experiences often create the most compelling works. This creative non-fiction group is meant for people who have written fiction in the past and want to try their hand at personal essays or others ways of putting more of themselves into their writing, or writers like me who have focused on traditional non-fiction topics such as How To articles and want to add more color to their pieces. The focus will be on the craft of creative non-fiction …

It has been quite a shock to me as I've noticed that, in the past couple of cities I've lived in, there have been no groups dedicated to discussing the material (and, in my opinion, amazing wisdom which begs to be discussed and shared) in the "Conversations with God" series. Before I get into some background and go off on my long description (hehe), I will abbreviate my "description" for this group: This is intended to be an open forum and *community* in which any person (whether he/she is very …
… This is a great way to have some "girl time" once in a while. I hope this will be a place to meet new friends and share a few laughs.

There is a lot of information about leather work that is difficult to learn from books and online tutorials. It would be great if leatherworkers can MEET UP to discuss sources for tools, leather, findings; to share techniques and show the fruits of our labors.

… - So you take something that is lasting (you can take it home and hang it on your wall), is extremely positive, and in some cases even life-altering (I've had some GREAT students who had no idea they could paint). Hello Austin! I am Greg. I have been a professional artist since 1997 - focusing primarily on watercolor. I have a unique style and technique for painting in watercolor - and I love teaching. This group is for anyone from an advanced painter to a complete beginner. This meetup is for a …
