If you are looking for a serious book club in which they discuss the deep meaning of the books please note this is not the one for you. We are a fun, sometimes serious, most times not so serious book club. We all enjoy reading (well of course we do) and have read some very good books and unfortunately a couple not so good books. Our discussions can last from five minutes to an hour and it really depends upon the book. We read primarily contemporary fiction, but we're open to anything. Some of ou …

Each meeting starts with a video or PDF presentation of the book's key concepts so you can learn everything you need to know just by attending the meeting. We'll discuss how we've applied the book's concepts to our businesses and then leave with an action plan to apply them starting immediately (if you don't use it, you lose it). Who Should Join Open to anyone who'd like to learn more strategies for improving their b …

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” ~Dr. Seuss I've tried joining a few book clubs that were genre specific (chick lit), gender specific (chicks only), and author specific (Stephen King) but as none seemed to satisfy my palate, I thought I'd try to see if there were others like me, i.e. those who can equally enjoy the likes of Jane Austen, Stephen King, Shakespeare,Neil Gaiman, Dean Koontz as well as nonfiction books (The …

Ever since I was done with my art history degree, I've been missing the intense and insightful reading schedule I endured as a student. True, I still try to catch up with new publications, but I know I miss out a lot. So, I thought that doing it as a group may bring more motivation as well as enhance the understanding of serious writings about art through a stimulating discussion. If you share my interests in art history and criticism - do join. I see this as monthly book club/discussion group m …

I'd love book clubs if it wasn't for the reading. This club is about reading captivating articles of modest length, and then chatting about them over a drink. Articles can be about whatever we want: corruption, religion, Jesse Ventura, high school popularity, etc. We meet in Manhattan, usually in Union Square, the East Village or LES.
We are a group of friendly, diverse, neighborhood women who like good books and lively conversation. I have been getting so much out of a certain genre of literature that I decided to see if anyone else wanted to read and discuss them. All of these books are terrific depictions of the journey out of emptiness and back into the vitality of being alive. They always inspire. Anyone who finds the topic of re-discovering spiritual health and innocence, particularly if the starting point is a jaded love for self-destruction should join this meet-up. We'll meet weekly and peel one of these novels apar …

This group is for those who enjoys reading rock memoirs / biographies as much as I do. I was inspired to start this group after reading a Rolling Stone article about the 25 greatest rock memoirs of our time. I have never started a group before so suggestions from members are welcomed with open arms! I plan to hold our extremely low-key gatherings at various neighborhood bars in Brooklyn with great music to complement our discussions!
A group for gay men (not necessarily of the Brooklynite variety) to read and discuss literature (not necessarily of the LGBT variety) while meeting new people and exploring new places in the process.
Giving credit where credit is due...A similar group is in Manhattan (http://www.meetup.com/NYC-GAY-MENS

This book club reads popular fiction and non-fiction with spiritual themes, and then meets in fellowship for discussion. Redemption, humanity, freedom, rebirth, nature, justice, triumph, and the mystical are among the many spiritual themes explored. Hosted by Original Blessing: A Unitarian Universalist Congregation in north Brooklyn, New York. All are welcome!
I decided to start the group because I cannot find a book club that assigns books that are more to my liking. So I am hoping to find other girls who will enjoy the type of books I love to read. I read both fiction and non fiction, but my main interest is stories that touch upon specific things: feminism, sexuality, mental health, etc. So join my group if you are looking to stay local in Brooklyn, like to drink and like to read.
We will be reading and discussing Pulizer Prize winning novels, while enjoying a nice glass of when in a Brooklyn Wine Bar. The book for the first meet up group will be Lonesome Dove. For future meet ups we will come up with a list of options to vote on for the next Pulitzer Prize winning novel.
